An Indigenous People of Biafra combatant was killed by Nigerian Army personnel in a heavy gunfight in the Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

Once the fighters were routed, the soldiers cleared away their hiding place.
Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, said in a statement on Sunday that the forces found three IEDs in addition to other weapons and ammunition.
“After an intense firefight on Saturday, March 2, 2024, Nigerian Army troops successfully cleared the IPOB/ESN hideout at Ihiteukwa Community in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, neutralizing one IPOB/ESN terrorist,” the statement said.
After defeating the fighters, the brave soldiers examined their hiding place and found three IEDs, a Toyota Highlander SUV, a Hilux car, eight rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo, six rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, and a single barrel pistol made locally. A pair of banned Biafran uniforms, a solar panel, a CCTV camera, ten cell phones, batteries, a bundle of banned Biafran currency, three solar street lights, three jungle hats, two pairs of black boots, and other charms are among the other items found from the terrorists’ lair.
He added that in Abia state, forces came upon IPOB fighters.
Onyema continued, saying that as a result, the fighters left their hiding place and that weapons were found there.
“In a separate operation, troops engaged the terrorists in a firefight at a suspected IPOB/ESN crossing point in the Akawa Nneato general area of Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. As a result, the terrorists fled into nearby bushes in disarray.”
The statement further stated that “after the gunfight, troops exploited additional areas and recovered one FN rifle loaded with four rounds of NATO 7.62mm ammunition, two empty magazines, and an AK-47 rifle loaded with 19 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.”
According to Onyema, troops also eliminated a number of terrorist camps and cleared the Kaduna forest.
He declared, “Terrorist camps in the Kawara general area of Birnin Gwari Forest in Kaduna State have been cleared out and destroyed by troops operating in the area.” Three motorcycles, one PKT Gun link with 246 rounds of 7.62mm by 39mm ammo, one woodland camouflage, and a pair of desert boots were found by the forces during the operation. One Boafeng radio and three magazine holders are among the other items found.
He mentioned that the militants were being pursued by the army who had taken control of the area.
